The UK Community Radio Network has released details of its inaugural regional Connecting Communities event, with the first one to be held at Black Country Radio. The occasion, on Saturday, April 9th, will feature speakers and discussion panels, with the full line-up still being confirmed they aim to explore small-scale DAB, funding, journalism, and more topics of interest that showcase good examples of Community Radio in practice and help inspire and explore new ideas of how radio can connect communities.
The organisation is still welcoming suggestions for sessions that would be of interest, or of speakers that would be great to hear from. The day from 9.30 am till 5 pm, is aimed at Community Radio Station Managers and Management, although anyone involved with, or with an interest in Community Radio is welcome to attend, this can be from any form of Community Radio – Ofcom licensed, small-scale DAB, internet, or aspirational stations.
Keith Horsfall, Chair of Black Country Radio said: “Black Country Radio is delighted to welcome the UK Community Radio Network to our studios in Resonance for a regional event. “To be at the heart of this developing and important community radio network is a big honour for Black Country Radio and helps in reinforcing the development of ties and cooperation between local radio stations to mutual benefit.” […] “We’re really excited to be launching our regional events, we want to help bring stations together to share ideas and best practice, we hope to hold a regional event every couple of months, as well we’re already starting to make plans for another national event following the Community Radio Conference and Awards in Coventry last year,” added Martin Steers, Co-Founder, UK Community Radio Network.
The UK Community Radio Network says it is also open to other stations across the country to offer to host future events and is keen to organise events in areas and regions that do not normally host these kinds of activities. More details and ticket information are available from the websites below.
